Introducing Buddybox Hybrid: AI Safety Intelligence on the Edge

At Buddywise, we are on a  mission to create  safer workplaces by building the AI-native Safety OS. Today, we are expanding our offering  with the launch of Buddybox Hybrid, an edge computing solution designed for environments where operational resilience is the highest priority.

The shift towards AI-enabled safety systems has brought significant advancements, but relying entirely on cloud infrastructure can present challenges in certain facilities where internet connectivity is limited or ability to operate offline in periods is a requirement. Buddybox Hybrid addresses this by providing on-site processing of video streams, allowing AI workflows to function effectively without reliance on cloud resources.

Expanding Our Deployment Possibilities

Buddybox Hybrid becomes the third solution in our deployment ecosystem, allowing us to adapt to the specific infrastructure needs of any environment:

• Buddywise Link: Our completely hardware-less deployment option.
• Buddybox: Offers select on-premise edge capabilities equipped with enterprise-grade connectivity security.
• Buddybox Hybrid: Shifts the core architecture and workflows from the cloud directly to on-premise operations.

Core Features and Capabilities:

• Offline Capability: If network connectivity drops, local safety analytics continue to operate. Any system actions or alerts that do not have internet dependencies will proceed as normal. Once the connection is restored, the collected data is automatically pushed to the cloud.
• Reduced Bandwidth: AI models run directly on the local Buddybox hardware. Only the specific video frames containing identified risks are sent to the cloud, representing a very small percentage of the overall data processed.
• Extra Low Latency: By removing the potential delays caused by internet speed fluctuations, scenarios requiring immediate, super low-latency responses can be realised with high reliability.

How it Integrates into Your Operations

While the primary video processing happens locally, the Buddywise cloud remains integral for accessibility and system health. Customers can still review all safety observations through the central web console, which retrieves data directly from the cloud. Additionally, the edge device continuously sends telemetry and error messages to the cloud for monitoring and logging.
